Lake Cushman-12/26/14

What started as a day off turned into a journey to a place I have dreamed of always going.

I set off not really knowing where exactly I was going but I knew what direction so I took off going the long way.

I am a sucker for 2 things when I adventure and abandoned buildings and docks, they always get me to stop as I did.

Back on the road I noticed the trees were changing as I got closer to the Olympic National forest.

Soon I found the place I had chosen on my journey “Lake Cushman” it sits at the bottom of what they call the Staircase.

The lake seemed oddly quiet and I was the only one here for sure.

The lake was drained out for the winter but it was still huge with some of the strangest water I have ever seen.

I sat for a long while on a piece of cement that is usually submerged and as I turned to go a huge splash erupted from the water, must have been a huge fish.

After driving a bit I found a place to hike and I was ready, I always keep my hiking gear in my car because you never know when your going to find something to hike.

Going up It was cold and foggy and a bit creepy, almost like a movie and as I hiked I realized the light was getting dim.

I desperately wanted to get to the ridge line but I knew I could not make it so I stopped where I was at and enjoyed.

I would have liked to break through the fog more so I could have seen the lake but I felt like maybe something was telling me to enjoy what I got.

So I did and then promptly made my way down the mountain.

Back in the car I took off into the mountain
roads heading for home shooting through time and space high on life and enjoying it.
